Day 63 – Mirror Universe Mister Spock – Sketch Card

Day 63 - Mirror Universe Mister Spock - sketch card - Star Trek 365 by Lee Sargent 2018

Mirror Universe Mister Spock – sketch card

Again this is one of my bugbears, just because Spock had an iconic goatee in the Mirror Universe it doesn’t mean that all Vulcans are going to be wearing them.  I give Soval a pass because I guess it’s a homage but then Sarek has one as well and I guess I’m just sick of the MU 😉

I do need to add though that these cards are fun, which was the intent of the original episode.

I am also doing audio updates over on Patreon now so if that sounds like something you’d dig then head over to Patreon and subscribe for as little as $1 (US) a month.

Mirror Universe Captain Kirk – sketch card

As many have heard before I’m not the greatest fan of the Mirror Universe, it was a fun episode that was expanded way too much (in my humble opinion, obviously if you love it I’m happy for you).

That said I love the alternative designs used in the show, it’s fun to see the twist on the costumes.  I’m super busy this fortnight with work and the CrossFit Open so I’m going to be kind to myself and just do a series of sketch cards which are a little quicker and easier to do.

Assimilating Kadis-kot

So I had to show that the “Little Books” could extend past the Trek pets!  I thought Seven learning how to play a board game might be fun.  Apparently she prefers the green chips.

Day 60 – The Big Goodbye

Day 60 - The Big Goodbye - Star Trek 365 by Lee Sargent 2018

The Big Goodbye

Let me be upfront, I’m not a Dixon Hill fan, in fact I’m not much of a fan of the holodeck episodes at all.  But rewatching TNG for the Star Trek First Watch podcast has been a real joy to rediscover some of these episodes and with The Big Goodbye I was struck by how wonderfully shot this scene was and how much Picard’s uniform popped.

Not sure I’ve captured “sexy” here but I could have done much worse too LOL.

Drawn whilst listening to The Last Starfighter soundtrack (expanded version) – random I know but I love that soundtrack so much.

Day 59 – A Night in Sickbay

A Night in Sickbay

Yeah these are way too much fun.  I’ve probably got one or two left in me before I get them out of my system for the time being.

A Night in Sickbay is such a wonderful “ship in a bottle” episode, I know these episodes are done to save money but they more often than not turn out to be truly wonderful character pieces.

Day 58 – Collecting spores on Eliv III

Day 58 - Collecting spores on Eliv III - Star Trek 365 by Lee Sargent 2018

Collecting spores on Eliv III

Tuvok sighed to himself as Ensign Kim dangled from his rope, he wasn’t controlling his swing and was struggling to get a hand hold.

“Mister Kim, did you not make assurances that you were proficient in free climbing?”

Harry swung for the branch and missed it by a huge margin. “Ahhh yeah about that.” he answered miserably.

“Oh come on Starfleet, didn’t you take Admiral Kelso’s outdoorsmanship course?” Torres called down from the highest branch.

“Most of it.” he called back as he fumbled onto the branch.  “I may have transferred out before getting to climbing.  But I’ve done wall climbs in the holodeck.”

“Indeed.” Tuvok raised an eyebrow. “Remind me to better define the term proficient in the future.”

The trio were high amongst the canopy of the Elivian forest.  The trees of which spored a substance that Neelix assured them would taste almost exactly like Cocoa.  B’Elanna  was particularly enthusiastic about the mission, that involved a reasonably long climb.  The transporters were unable to get them accurately onto the branches and the shuttle would disrupt the spores.

Harry regretted putting his hand up, not as much as Tuvok was going to make him regret it later though.

Day 57 – Roly Poly Ripper

Day 57 - Roly Poly Ripper - star trek 365 by Lee Sargent 2018

Roly Poly Ripper

So I think everyone, not the least me had fun the other day with Spot’s Little Next Generation Book so I thought I continue the theme with our favourite tardigrade, Ripper.

If I’m going to keep doing these I need to get better at placing the elements on the page better, Ripper should have been larger and the Discovery further back.

Day 56 – The Andorian Tuber Root Markets of Laibok

Day 56 - The Andorian Tuber Root Markets of Laibok - star trek 365 by Lee Sargent 2018

Shran shows Archer and Hoshi Sato around the Tuber Root Markets of Laibok

It was always my intention to draw our favourite crews and characters in new and unusual locations.  I’m not sure why I like drawing the Andorians so much or for that matter the Enterprise subzero temperature jackets because I’ve never had a great look at them and to be fair I’m too lazy to dig the blu-ray out to get a hi-def look.  I think the arms are a green brown colour as well.  I’ll include a colouring page so you can do it your own way 🙂

I love how Enterprise went to Andor, a planet we hadn’t visited up until that point.  I’d love to see more of it! I liked the idea of them having these markets in the freezing cold and Andorian Tuber Roots seem like a good produce to have there.

Captain Picard on Risa pencil sketch

LOL I’m not above pandering to my audience, well one of them at least.  Alexander over on Twitter picked up the Captain Picard illustration and is pretty much the biggest Patrick Stewart fan.  Ever. I’m not even kidding.

And he very politely asked if there is any chance that speedo Picard would be making an appearance and as I mentioned yesterday I’m a little under the pump so a quick pencil and watercolour sketch and we have Jean-Luc in all his ummm glory.

Day 54 – Turbolift Trouble

Turbolift Trouble featuring Spot and Maura

So I was struggling a little to work out what to draw for today, the lead up to the big 50 really took it out of me and then I saw this exchange over on Twitter:

I’ve been meaning to do a book mock up for some time so this grabbed my attention!  Here’s the original:
