Day 36 - Star Trek Masterwork by Michael R. Howard

Original TOS Fan from 1966. Complete Star Trek Novel & Reference Book Collection (more than 1600 books and magazines (1967-2018).

My extreme reference library helped with my design. My design is called the Star Trek Masterwork, it’s a counted cross stitch pattern, I designed in 2004, hand-stitched and completed in 2006 in time (for TOS 40th Anniversary).

The design is handstitched on 32 count Belfast linen with a stitch density of 1024 stitches to the square inch, 269,937 total stitches using 213 colors of DMC embroidery floss. It took 30 days to design & 693 days to stitch. It took Blue Ribbons in the Weber County & Utah State Fairs in 2006, as well as Judges Choice Award for best Original Design. It was featured in Star Trek Magazine Issue #51 in Nov 2014, winning the fan contest for that issue.
