S is such a huge selection to choose from and I just felt like drawing the Space Dock so this is where we are. I really should avoid painting in black, I always seem to approach it half heartedly and then everything dries different and it’s hard to have a good clean coverage. It does […]
I just enjoy drawing the Borg and so here they are, with a reminder that it is not always futile to resist. I also think (and I shouldn’t make this call already but I can revise) that this is my favourite of the set.
I have been in love with the idea of the great Tribble hunt ever since Odo asked if they still sang songs of it. So when I think of Qapla’ I think of the Klingons hunting down what they thought were the last of the Klingon Empire’s mortal enemies – the Tribbles. Of course there […]
Not now Madeline! The greatest mystery in Star Trek is what is it that Madelaine wanted. Although I’m sure the novelisation might mention it (though I recently re-read it and nothing comes to mind). I like to think that Madelaine had the idea for transparent aluminum first and was about to suggest it Dr Nichols. I […]
One of my favourite images from original Star Trek is the broken tricycle from Miri. This foreshadowing of a childish world broken is wonderful and I have gone out of my way to draw the scene several times however this is my favourite. Also admittedly the thought of just doing a line up of kids […]
I was super keen to draw Kirstie Alley Saavik and I love the Wrath of Khan uniforms so I decided the No Win Scenario was going to be the real one rather than the Kobayashi Maru (of either prime or Kelvin timeline – either way there was always going to be an apple).
I know I’ve put Picard in a couple of spots so I thought it would be nice to have him happily front and centre. I love that there is a very clear mannerism for this and he really made it his own. I also realised that I kinda really enjoy drawing Jean-Luc, I’ve done it […]
I love drawing the Ferengi but I do struggle with getting their likenesses for each of them separately. On their own, you can obviously tell who the Ferengi is in context but when they’re together I find it harder to distinguish them. The answer to that is of course to draw them together a lot […]
K gave me a lot of trouble trying to decide, obviously there’s all the Klingon stuff that I could focus on and I had Kolinahr in the back of my mind but I didn’t want to follow up “I is for” with another Spock picture. Then I liked the idea of Tuvok in the same […]
What I love about this scribble is that it is so very quintessentially TOS. I love that the original series has such a distinctive look and feel and all the tubes and plumbing in the original Enterprise is so recognisable. The jefferies tubes were such an inventive and effective set piece, genius in their simplicity.
